"31Then said Jesus to
those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye
my disciples indeed;"
In the Word of God, we find the Truth:
32And ye shall know the
truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Whatever bondage you are facing, whatever problem is creating difficulties in your life, look to Christ, the Author and Finisher of faith (Hebrews 12: 1-2).
"33They answered him, We
be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye
shall be made free?
Later in this chapter, Jesus says:
"36If the Son therefore
shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8: 36)
We are set free as we see Jesus Christ, and He then transforms us from glory to glory:
"But we all,
with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into
the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." (2 Corinthians 3: 18)
We are now sons of God (1 John 3:1) because of what Jesus Christ has done for us at the Cross:
"12But as many as received
him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of
blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1: 12-13)
and
"15For ye have not
received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself
beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And
if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be
that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." (Romans 8: 15-17)
While Satan seeks to accuse (Zechariah 3: 1-4), we have Jesus Christ, our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1: 30, 2 Corinthians 5: 21), and we need never feel shame or condemnation, or any other bondage in our lives.
The truth is, that Jesus, all grace and truth, sets us free to live in Him and through Him:
"17For the law was given
by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." (John 1: 17)
and
"10But by the
grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was
not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the
grace of God which was with me." (1 Corinthians 15: 10)
and
"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only
begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him." (1 John 4: 9)
Truth, Jesus -- sets you free!
