What turns us from sin?
The law? No! The truth - and the truth is found in God's grace!
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2: 11-14)
The above prophecy speaks of Jesus, and John describes the fullness of Him:
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1: 14)
Grace and truth is one in Christ:
"17For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.(John 1: 17)
Jesus turns us away from sin by the law of truth, which speaks of the Grace of God:
"Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses." (Acts 13: 38-39)
and
"0I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." (Galatians 2: 20-21)
and also
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it isthe gift of God:" (Ephesians 2:8)
The grace of God saves us, keeps us, and turns us from sin. Thank you, Jesus!
