In the Old Covenant, even then God portrayed himself as a man who carries his children.
Yet the Israelites still refused to believe Him, that He is good and wants to bless them.
That is really what faith is all about -- and this goodness is on full display for us in Christ:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3: 16)
It's all about believing on Him!
"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6: 29)
John did not mince words throughout his Gospel:
"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." (John 20: 31)''
So, do you believe in Him, or not?
What do you believe about Him? Do you believe in Him for your righteousness? Jesus rebuked the Pharisees during His earthy ministry for rejecting John:
"For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." (Matthew 21: 32)
and then
"Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:" (Romans 3: 22)
Faith is all about believing in Jesus, that He is our righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21)
Let us hope today that more Christians do not fall into the same failure as the Israelites, so that God does not have to lament: "Yet you did not believe me. . ."
