Thank you, Jesus, for the never-ending, ever-giving gifts of righteousness and grace (Romans 5: 17)
Yet these gifts are also ever-present in the life of a believer.
Regarding righteousness:
"In righteousness
shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not
fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee." (Isaiah 54: 14)
and
"As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the
righteous is an everlasting foundation." (Proverbs 10: 25)
and
"A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous
shall not be moved." (Proverbs 12: 3)
In Christ, we have been made the righteousness of God, and Christ is our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1: 30), and Christ Jesus is the most stable of all:
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." (Hebrews 13: 8)
Right after this verse, we read:
"Be not carried about
with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart
be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that
have been occupied therein." (Hebrews 13:9)
In Christ, we are established in grace and righteousness.
