In Jesus, Shame Cannot Hurt Us

"And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name." (Acts 5: 41)

Jesus took our shame at the Cross.

In fact, for those now in Christ, there is no condemnation (Romans 8: 1)

He became sin, and we become not just righteous, but the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5: 21)

Today, any feeling of wrongdoing or shame has no effect no us, because we know that Jesus has Finished a perfect work at the Cross.

To this day, Jesus is our mercy seat, and He will be our High Priest Forever.

No shame can hurt us, no sense of wrongdoing can defeat us:

"
In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

15Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
16Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."  (Isaiah 54: 14-17)

This righteousness is a gift which we keep receiving (Romans 5:17), a lavish overflowing which fulfills us (Psalm 23: 5)

So, when people attack or defame us, it means nothing, because Christ in us, our hope of glory (Colossians 1: 27), overcomes anything that the world can throw at us:

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." (Romans 8:18)

and

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)

and

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4: 4)

We have nothing to fear in this world.

Because we are in Christ, shame cannot hurt us.
