This passage really jumped out at me.
Notice that Jesus is made a High Priest Forever by the law, but rather through the eternal life that He is (John 14:6).
In the same way, every one of us who believes in Jesus--we are made priests, kings and priests, because of Jesus' death and His eternal life.
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who
hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" (1 Peter 2:9)
How did we become priests?
Jesus took us into Himself.
We left our dead selves in Adam, and became alive in Christ!
"But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if
through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the
gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
16And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by
one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which
receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life
by one, Jesus Christ." (Romans 5: 15-17)
How do we live today?
We live through His life!
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." (Galatians 2: 20-21)
We have no life, nor power to live, through the law.
The was never meant to be a guide for living, but rather a standard to show our need for a Savior, and for life!
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." (Romans 3: 20)
and
"[God] also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." (2 Corinthians 3:6)
Jesus was made High Priest Forever not through the Old Covenant of the law, but through the New Covenant of grace, in which we receive His life, and all things with it! (Romans 8:32)
Let us receive more of Jesus, allowing Him to flow and bless every aspect of our walk!
