Trust Him and His Goodness Before Doing Good

"Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed." (Psalm 37: 3)

Many people in the Body of Christ are obsessed and pressued: "I must do good. I have to obey. I need to serve."

Yet even under law, during the Old Covenant, David told all of us:

Trust God and do good.

We have to believe in Him first. We have to know that He is and that He is for us:

"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11: 5-6)

It is all about faith - and faith means that we know that He is and He rewards.

We have to trust that God is good, before we can start doing good for others:

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (John 13: 34)

and

"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love" (John 15: 9)

and

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 4: 31-32)

We too understand how good God has been to us, to trust that He is good, then we can be good to others.
